Völkersolidarität heisst Raus aus der NATO
In den nächsten Tagen findet in Chicago ein NATO-Gipfel statt. Aus diesem Anlass hat das Politbüro des Zentralkomitees der Kommunistischen Partei Griechenlands - KKE - ein Statement herausgegeben. Die KKE ist der Meinung, dass sich Griechenland nur befreien kann, wenn der Austritt aus der NATO erkämpft wird, die NATO-Einrichtungen in Griechenland geschlossen werden und die im Dienst der NATO an Aggressionskriegen beteiligten griechischen Militäreinheiten nach Griechenland zurückbeordert werden. Eine Volksregierung könne nicht bestehen, so lange Griechenland Mitglied der NATO und der EU ist.
Hervorgehoben wird, dass die KKE die einzige Partei in Griechenland ist, die das ohne Wenn und Aber will. Die Haltung von SYRIZA und anderen als links firmierenden Parteien/Organisationen sei zweideutig. So vetritt SYRIZA den Standpunkt der Europäischen Linkspartei, es gehe um die "Auflösung der NATO".
Diese Parole ist auch in Deutschland bekannt. Gregor Gysi hat zu verstehen gegeben, wozu sie dient - dazu, die Parole "Raus aus der NATO" zu unterlaufen und durch die scheinbar "auch fortschrittliche" Parole "Auflösung der NATO" zu ersetzen - was nicht in der Hand der einzelnen Mitgliedsstaaten liegt, sie könnnen nur AUSTRETEN - und so auf den Sankt Nimmerleinstag zu verschieben. Das ist ein Betrugsmanöver.
Hier das Statement dr KKE, das es bisher noch nicht in deutscher Übersetzung gibt. Die Stellen, die mir für Griechenland und Europa als besonders wichtig erschienen, habe ich in Fettschrift gesetzt.
On the NATO Summit Meeting in Chicago
The stance in relation to the imperialist organization of NATO helps every conscious worker to separate the “wheat from the chaff”.
1. The impending NATO Summit Meeting, on the 20-21 of May in Chicago, is aimed at further strengthening the imperialist predatory alliance, the sworn enemy of the right of every people to choose its own development path.
The adjustments which NATO has made over recent years regarding its dogma and structure, are due to the emergence and sharpening of new contradictions within the imperialist system internationally, reflect realignments in the balance between the imperialist powers, but chiefly through the strengthening of states outside of NATO and the tendency for the creation of new international alliances with Asia at their epicentre. And so NATO, which has extended its tentacles as far as Afghanistan and Somalia, Australia and New Zealand, declares the whole planet as its “Lebensraum”. In conditions, indeed, of a capitalist economic crisis, which has embraced not only the imperialist centre of the EU, but also the USA, Japan and the possibility of it spreading and becoming synchronised globally, makes the role of NATO even more aggressive and dangerous, which is involved in new imperialist interventions with immeasurable consequences for the peoples.
2. NATO seeks at the Chicago Summit to promote its “New Strategic Concept”, which was approved in Lisbon (November 2011), which :
Strengthens imperialist military operations, beyond the sphere of the alliance, and indeed as activity which is legitimised by the UN (with which it has signed a collaboration agreement), as was demonstrated by the recent war in Libya.
Coordinates with similar forces formed by the EU, as well as with the so-called “Partnership for Peace”- It is attempting to integrate all the countries which seek links with NATO in this organization. In the name of “smart defence” it has re-adjusted its structure, created joint infrastructure, increased its expenditure on NATO infrastructure projects, unified its military structure and command, and modernized its nuclear and conventional weapons.
Expands it framework for activity against allegedly “new” and “asymmetric threats”, which are now being used as a pretext for the expansion of its activity: Cyber-attacks, piracy, “terrorism”, proliferation of ballistic and nuclear weapons, “energy security”, climate changes, immigration, water shortages etc.
Acts for the formation of state mechanisms for repression and aggression (police and army) in various states, incorporating them into the imperialist NATO plans.
Extends the so-called “pre-emptive wars” and reinforces its capability to achieve a “first nuclear strike”, through the installation of the so-called “anti-missile shield” in Europe.
Legitimises the intervention in every country at the expense of the people, if the bourgeois power in any NATO member-state (as well as in other states) is challenged, changed, or overthrown internally. Exercises are being carried out by military forces in our country as well as in other countries regarding the repression of popular mobilizations.
3. These developments are dangerous and against the interests of the peoples, both of the NATO member-states, as well as those outside of NATO. The KKE reveals to the peoples that the ”new” NATO does not “promote security” in every corner of the world, as bourgeois propaganda claims, but it also continues to play a dangerous and dirty role as the butcher of the peoples and as a war “machine” at the expense of the peoples and popular movements. They massacre the workers, so that large monopoly groups can exploit the mineral wealth and other raw materials, their trade and transportation, and the market shares.
The participation of our country in the NATO alliance is not in the interests of the Greek people, or the other peoples! The claims of those parties which to varying extents argue that the participation of our country in NATO can safeguard the sovereign rights of our country are aimed at obscuring the truth from the people.
Life has demonstrated that the opposite has been true all these years. The entrapment of Greece in NATO, which has been followed by the PASOK and ND governments and is advocated by other parties (from the “Independent Greeks” of Kammenos, to “Golden Dawn” and the “Democratic Left”), has had immeasurable consequences for its sovereign rights in the Aegean.
The stance of SYRIZA is hypocritical. It avoids the demand for the disengagement-departure of Greece from NATO with the general demand for the “dissolution of NATO”, i.e. Greece will never leave NATO, not even in the “Second Coming”! Because the nucleus of NATO is the USA, as the strongest political-military and economic power from the time of its creation. The weakening of NATO has as its pre-condition the weakening of this alliance through the disengagement of our countries from NATO, as a result of the struggle of the peoples and the overthrow of the anti-people imperialist political line in their countries also. No pro-people government and policy can exist within NATO, as well as in the structures of the EU alliance. The EU and NATO are two sides of the same coin. The recent political proposal of SYRIZA for a “left government”, while the clouds of war against Syria and Iran are gathering, and the involvement of Greece in NATO and its plans in the region is being reinforced, is silent-in a very obvious manner- on the issue of disengagement.
The demand for the disentanglement of Greece from the imperialist plans is timely and necessary, as well as for the return of sections of the Greek armed forces, which are on imperialist missions, as well as for the disengagement of our country from NATO. The struggle of the neighbouring peoples for disengagement and the weakening of the NATO alliance, the closure of all the NATO military bases (like Suda) are also timely and necessary. All these demands are in a line of rupture and counterattack, more decisively combining the anti-monopoly anti-imperialist struggle in every country with the struggle for people’s power.
The KKE calls on the working class and the other popular strata of our country to contribute even more to the anti-NATO struggle. It calls on every militant, every concerned radical and left-wing person to give hope to his life, the future of his children and grand-children by voting for the KKE in the upcoming election. The KKE has demonstrated that it is a “rock” in the struggle against the imperialist NATO alliance.
The stance vis-à-vis NATO is a criterion for every party, regarding their trustworthiness and the position they take in relation to the people. The consistent struggle for disengagement and to expose the widely amongst the people the role of NATO and the immediate dangers, which are caused by our country’s involvement in imperialist adventures, and finally in an imperialist war, must come onto the agenda.
